National Oil Corporation (NOC) chairman Eng. Mustafa Sanalla, paid a working visit to Repsol’s headquarters in Madrid, Spain, from 17-19 September, in response to an official invitation from Repsol’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jon Imaz.
The NOC chairman visited the Centre for Research and Development, as well as Repsol's Training Centre, to learn about the latest production and processing technologies used by the company. He also met some of the Libyan trainees there undertaking postgraduate studies.
Sanalla also received a briefing on the latest technologies used at the company’s refining and petrochemical complex in Tarragona. The two companies agreed to coordinate future field visits for Libyan oil sector specialists; to enable knowledge sharing and benefit from the latest technologies at the factory.
Both parties discussed mutual cooperation in the fields of exploration, production and processing. The NOC Chairman affirmed the strategic relationship between the two sides and called for continued enhanced cooperation.
Mr Imaz expressed his condolences to the NOC chairman for the loss of two of his colleagues - killed during the terrorist attack on NOC’s Tripoli headquarters. He wished those injured a speedy recovery.
Sanalla was accompanied by Eng. Abulgasem Shengheer, NOC board member responsible for exploration and production, and Dr Khalifa Abdulsadek chairman of the management committee of Zalaf Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Company. Repsol was represented by Mr Tomás García, E&P vice-president, Mr Jose Carlos, regional director for Africa, Asia, Europe and Brazil, and Mr Luís Polo Navas, director of the Libya Business Unit.
