NOC Discusses Results of Honeywell Uop Studies to Develop Zawiya Refinery
On Monday, August 18, 2025, an expanded meeting took place at NOC headquarters, led by the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors, along with the Chairman and members of the Management Committee of the Zawiya Oil Refining Company. The meeting focused on discussing the results of a study conducted by the American company Honeywell Uop regarding the economic feasibility of developing and modernizing the Zawiya Oil Refining Company’s operating systems.
The meeting reviewed the company’s findings, which were described as very encouraging. These results confirm the potential for developing and modernizing the Zawiya refinery to produce a significant portion of the local market’s gasoline needs. This would save substantial financial resources currently spent on subsidizing gasoline imports and contribute to economic stability.
The meeting also addressed the development of the oil industry in Libya as a whole, emphasizing the importance of conducting regular and timely maintenance of refineries and their equipment. This is crucial to ensure ongoing production and prevent disruptions or temporary shutdowns.
