After a Seven-Year Halt… Sirte Oil and Gas Company Restarts The Second Methanol Plant
Sirte Oil and Gas Company has successfully resumed operations at its second methanol plant, marking a major milestone after more than seven years of inactivity. This achievement follows the installation and rigorous testing of the natural gas heater, an effort led by the company’s technical teams, whose dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence were key to the plant’s reactivation.
In parallel, work is actively underway to restart the first methanol plant. Technical teams are engaged in comprehensive overhauls, installing thermal reformer pipes, and fully upgrading the plant’s control systems. These operations are being carried out around the clock, reflecting the company’s high level of technical competence and determination to complete these vital projects efficiently and effectively in no time.
The combined production capacity of both methanol plants stands at 2,000 metric tons per day, underscoring their strategic importance to Libya’s national economy.
On this occasion, the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Chairman, Board members, and all departments, the maintenance and operations teams of Sirte Oil and Gas Company, whose hard work, and expertise made this success possible.
