National Oil Corporation (NOC) confirms that Akakus Oil Operations Company building in Tripoli was subject to material damage as a result of a nearby air strike in the airport road area on Friday, December 20 2019, at around 5.30 pm.
NOC Chairman Eng. Mustafa Sanalla commented, “NOC facilities are being damaged and the lives of its workers threatened with increasing regularity by military action. Whether intentional or otherwise this is unacceptable and must stop immediately.
Fortunately, this strike did not cause human casualties. However, all sides must stay away from these facilities that constitute the backbone of the Libyan economy. Exposing the facilities and our workers to danger will force us to close them, which will adversely affect all Libyan citizens.”
