NOC aims to strengthen its petroleum industry localization program and support the private sector
Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, a delegation of private sector companies from the oil sector, in collaboration with the NOC and the Committee of Oil and Gas Equipment Localization in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals of the GNU visited the factories operated by the Military Industries Organization (MIO) in the Asbi’a area.
During this visit, the delegation received a briefing on the MIO’s manufacturing and technical capabilities, with a particular focus on the production of mechanical equipment and spare parts utilized in various industries, especially the oil sector.
The visit also featured a field tour of several MIO departments and workshops, where the delegation was informed about the manufacturing and production stages and introduced to the equipment used in various maintenance and industrial projects.
At the end of its tour, the delegation met with officials from the MIO to discuss future cooperation. They emphasized the importance of supporting local industries and developing partnerships among national institutions to help localize certain industries and reduce reliance on imports. The delegation also recognized the crucial role of the NOC, which has enabled private oil companies to take a more active role in the oil sector. Thanks to recommendations and direct involvement from its Chairman, Engineer Masoud Suleiman, the NOC has helped sustain communication with major state-owned industrial institutions. Together, they explored ways to ensure the success of the oil industries localization program.
