NOC chairman and Italian Ambassador discuss enhancing commercial cooperation
National Oil Corporation (NOC) chairman Eng. Mustafa Sanalla, welcomed His Excellency Giuseppe Grimaldi, Italian Ambassador to Libya, to NOC’s Tripoli headquarters on March 5, 2019, to discuss cooperation and new commercial opportunities in the oil sector.
Parties discussed ways to strengthen investment in Libya and arrangements for future potential engagement between Italian and Libyan companies. Libya’s positive production outlook was discussed, with parties highlighting accordingly the importance of NOC’s neutrality and security framework being maintained.
The security situation at the Sharara oil field was also addressed, with parties welcoming the removal of the armed blockaders; paving the way for the safe return of NOC staff and the gradual resumption of field production.
The NOC chairman underlined the corporation’s focus – increasing oil production for the benefit of all Libyans. Sanalla further reiterated the corporation’s desire to cooperate with those partners who bring investment and technical best-practice to projects and can help increase production – thereby developing the oil sector for future generations.
