NOC Discusses Cooperation and Tech Transfer with British Partners and Major Energy Companies
Mr. Masoud Suleman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), chaired an extensive meeting attended by senior NOC department heads and specialists. It also included representatives from major British and international companies active in the oil, gas, and energy sectors, such as BP, Shell, KBR, Vitol, and Glencore. Representatives from the British Embassy in Libya and the coordinator of the Libyan-British Business Council were also in attendance.
The meeting discussed prospects for joint cooperation and ways to further strengthen the partnership between NOC and the British side. Key topics included how the companies’ expertise, technical capabilities, and modern technologies can support NOC’s plans to develop the oil and gas sector, increase production, and improve the efficiency of operations and facilities.
The Chairman stressed the need to turn these meetings into concrete cooperation programs. He instructed NOC’s technical and specialized departments to establish direct working channels with the participating companies, each within its area of expertise, to assess sector needs and explore cooperation opportunities, solutions, and relevant technologies. The objective is to identify practical projects and clear areas for joint collaboration.
The meeting also covered several high-priority topics, including expanding oil and gas production, improving facility efficiency, maintenance, asset management, and safety, as well as infrastructure development and the adoption of modern technologies. It further addressed training, knowledge transfer, and efforts to strengthen national capacity.
The discussion took place as part of NOC’s drive to expand cooperation with leading international companies, bring in expertise and advanced technologies for Libya’s oil and gas sector, and build effective partnerships that support the NOC’s goals; namely, increasing production, improving operational efficiency, and encouraging investment.
