NOC Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Governance Through Internal Auditing and Training
(Tripoli, April 29, 2025) – The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has reiterated its dedication to enhancing governance, transparency, and compliance by supporting internal auditing and targeted training programs. Eng. Masoud Suleman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NOC, held an expanded meeting at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli. The meeting included directors of internal audit departments and offices from affiliated companies, institutes, and centers, as well as the attendance of the Director of the Internal Audit Department and the Director-General of the Training Department at the NOC.
The meeting focused on the critical role of internal auditing in supporting governance, transparency, and compliance, as well as the importance of empowering its members to enhance their efficiency, improve performance, and elevate their work outcomes. This is vital for safeguarding assets and properties and ensuring that affiliated companies and entities carry out their assigned activities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and approved policies.
Suleman emphasized the need to invest in competent professionals and young talents who will assume these responsibilities in the future. He also directed the necessity of defining mechanisms and proposing necessary measures to standardize working methods and promote knowledge exchange among internal audit departments across the sector.
He stressed the importance of supporting targeted training, continuous qualification, and obtaining international professional certifications in this field.
In a landmark announcement, Suleman officially endorsed the newly formed Libyan Internal Auditors Association, comprising sector audit directors as its founding members. “This professional body represents a quantum leap in institutionalizing audit practices nationwide,” he remarked, noting its critical role in establishing legal and professional frameworks for internal auditing in Libya.
The meeting concluded with action plans to implement these strategic initiatives, marking a new chapter in the NOC’s governance enhancement efforts.
