NOC teams begin damage assessment and repairs

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) assures the public that work is progressing quickly, with dedicated personnel across the sector carrying out their roles.

The NOC confirms the fire is fully extinguished and the cooling phase is now underway. Maintenance teams will assess the damage, and repair work will begin immediately afterward.

We also clarify that, thank Allah, production at the Sharara field did not stop completely. Operations continued at reduced levels by routing output through alternate pipelines after the leak caused the fire. About 50% of the field’s capacity is currently online, and Akakus Oil Operations, under the supervision of the NOC’s Production Management, Maintenance Engineering and Safety departments, is gradually ramping production back up. If the current operational plan proceeds as expected, production should return to normal within the next 24 hours.

The NOC Chairman praised the cooperation, coordination, and teamwork between Akakus, Mellitah, Gulf Oil, and the NOC’s relevant departments in managing the production lines.

He also expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the firefighting teams from Sirte, Akakus, Brega, Mellitah, Gulf Oil, and Nafusa Oil, as well as to the National Safety Authority, the Zintan Local Council, and Petro Air.
