At this difficult time for Libya, NOC is doing all it can to get fuel in sufficient quantities to all parts of the country.
Total oil production inside Libya is down to 80,510 barrels a day, as of Monday April 13, 2020.
The forced restriction of oil and gas production has caused financial losses exceeding $4,087,913,653 since January 17, 2020.
Many NOC facilities were illegally shut down on 17 January 2020. This resulted in the shutdown of Zawiya refinery, and since then, NOC has had to increase imports to meet people’s basic needs. Most oil and gas storage tanks are damaged and cannot be used.
NOC calls on all parties to lift the blockade and re-start oil and gas production, so every Libyan can benefit from a more steady supply of fuels and a stronger economy.
NOC is providing fuels to people in the eastern regions via different ports across the coastline. An LPG tanker finished discharging at the Benghazi port on Monday April 13 2020; while a gasoline tanker is preparing to discharge at the port today. Tobruk and the rest of the eastern region are being supplied by NOC directly from Benghazi.
Tripoli is being supplied directly through its port; while other cities in the western and mountain regions are receiving their fuel from the Zawiya warehouse. The central regions and cities in the south of Misurata are being supplied from the Misurata warehouse.
Transportation of fuels into the southern regions is difficult and intermittent due to the deteriorating security situation. Some fuel supplies are getting through, but this continues to be a difficult challenge.
Sometimes fuel shipments are being shared between various ports along the whole Libyan coastline. This is a consequence of low levels of funding given to NOC, and a desire to ensure vessels deliver fuels to all regions.
NOC will continue to publish data on fuel stocks in Libya as well as details of shipments, to keep the Libyan people informed on fuel availability in their area.
