Sirte Oil Company connects Sirte steam power plant to natural gas network
Sirte Oil Production and Manufacturing Company successfully completed operational tests of the metering station on Sunday, July 12, 2026. This is the first phase of the project to supply the Sirte Steam Power Plant with natural gas, replacing liquid fuels.
The next phase involves filling the branch pipeline and the pressure reduction station. Once complete, this will allow natural gas to finally flow to the Sirte Steam Power Plant’s production units.
The remaining operational tests are expected to be completed soon, and gas supplies to the plant will begin within the next few days. This is expected to improve the plant’s operating efficiency, reduce its reliance on liquid fuels, and deliver both economic and environmental benefits. It also supports the NOC’s strategy to back the electricity sector and expand the use of natural gas.
