With NOC Participation, ‘Green Libya’ Team Confirms Implementation in April

The headquarters of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) in Tripoli hosted a comprehensive meeting with the executive team of the “Planting 100 Million Trees” project to discuss the execution plan and timeline. The team confirmed that the project’s implementation will begin in April.

This initiative is part of the broader “Green Libya” project, launched by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Aldabaiba in December, aimed at planting 100 million trees across Libya to enhance vegetation, combat desertification, and mitigate climate change.

The meeting was attended by the project’s executive team leader, managers from NOC’s Sustainable Development and Media departments, the Chairman of the Public Services Company, and representatives from supporting companies, including Total, Equinor, Eni, Repsol, Suncor, Gazprom, Wintershall, Tatneft, BP, and OMV. Several NOC specialists were also present.

Discussions focused on outlining the project’s objectives, identifying target locations for planting, and addressing logistical arrangements. The role of supporting companies in providing the necessary resources to ensure the initiative’s success was also highlighted.

Participants emphasized that the “Green Libya” initiative represents a significant step toward improving the local environment and addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
