A technical and financial meeting discussed drilling performance, well maintenance, and development of operational capabilities
During its annual technical and financial meeting with the National Oil Well Drilling and Workover Company (NWD), the National Oil Corporation (NOC) reviewed the NWD’s performance and results, as well as its programs and plans for expanding drilling and well maintenance services. The meeting also focused on improving the readiness of the NWD’s fleet and equipment.
At the meeting, the NWD’s management stressed the value of this gathering for assessing performance and discussing the challenges facing its operations. They provided an overview of their work during the reporting period, including maintenance completed on 188 wells and drilling of 21 wells for several NOC subsidiaries. They also outlined efforts to strengthen their technical staff, including establishing a drilling engineering department under the new organizational structure and expanding integrated drilling projects.
The meeting also discussed the key challenges NWD faces, particularly the accumulation of overdue payments from clients. The administration said this has affected the NWD’s ability to procure spare parts and to carry out maintenance, replacement, and upgrade work. This has impacted the readiness and efficiency of its drilling rigs and equipment.
NWD expressed its hope that the NOC would continue to support efforts to settle outstanding payments owed to operating companies. They noted that this would help strengthen the NWD’s capacity to implement its programs and maintain the performance of its fleet.
The NWD also reviewed its efforts to improve operational efficiency, strengthen maintenance programs, develop its fleet and equipment. They further discussed ways to reinforce its safety system, and continue building its capabilities for delivering integrated drilling projects.
The meeting stressed the importance of prioritizing the NWD among the NOC’s subsidiaries’ work in drilling and well workover. It said that this would help ensure the ongoing operation of its fleet, make full use of its national expertise and capabilities, and support these companies in carrying out their operational programs and increasing production.
The meeting was part of the NOC’s ongoing series of technical and financial meetings with its subsidiaries. The goal is to track technical, financial, and operational performance for 2026, discuss key challenges, and develop recommendations and solutions to improve performance and increase the efficiency of oil operations.
The meeting was attended by directors and specialists from the NOC’s relevant departments, as well as the Chairman and members of the Management Committee, along with the NWD’s department directors.
