Akakus Completes Injection Well to Reactivate Multiple Idle Wells
The Akakus Oil Operations team has successfully completed the drilling and commissioning of the injection well “I-30INC186.” This well will significantly enhance reservoir pressure in the I-NC186 field, with an impressive injection rate of 6,000 barrels of water per day.
This achievement stems from extensive efforts and a detailed reservoir study that focused on identifying the best locations for injection wells. This ensures high efficiency in reservoir repressurization and boosts overall production performance.
This success also paves the way for reactivating several wells that had been shut down due to low pressure, with an estimated production capacity of around 4,000 barrels of oil per day. This would mark the highest production since the field began operations in 2008.
This challenge provided an opportunity to leverage the company’s expertise in managing reservoirs with complex geological characteristics and to explore innovative solutions for boosting oil formation productivity. It reflects the company’s commitment to preserving reservoir assets and adhering to best engineering practices to ensure maximum recovery rates and sustainable production at the Sharara field. This effort supports the national oil sector and enhances its long-term production capabilities, in line with the development and production enhancement plans set by the NOC.
The Chairman and the Board of Directors of the NOC commend this significant achievement. They applaud the hard work and dedication of the company’s management and employees in successfully executing the NOC’s strategies and objectives.
