First LPG tanker since 2017 arrives at Marsa el-Brega Port
Marsa el-Brega port received the LPG tanker “Gas Houston,” carrying 1,000 metric tons (about 11,300 barrels) of cooking gas bound for the local market. It was the first such arrival since 2017.
The successful delivery, supported by the chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Engineer Masoud Suleman, through direct guidance and continuous follow-up, is intended to strengthen supply stability and reinforce the port’s strategic role in meeting citizens’ needs. It was made possible through joint coordination between Brega Oil Marketing Company and Sirte Oil Company for Production and Manufacturing of Oil and Gas.
The tanker’s arrival was attended by a number of officials and specialists from the oil sector. The ship’s docking came after Sirte Oil Company’s technical teams completed extensive maintenance and infrastructure upgrades, including work on gas storage tanks (TK 1255 and TK 1256), renewal of the loading and return pipelines connecting the berths and trailer systems, and technical modifications to raise safety standards at the loading sites.
The resumption of receiving gas tankers after a 9-year hiatus confirms the success of the efforts made by the NOC and its companies in rehabilitating vital facilities and raising the operational efficiency of the oil sector in a way that serves the national economy.
