Mellitah Achieves Major Gas Project Milestone at Bouri Field

Yesterday, Thursday, May 21, 2026, the Mellitah Oil and Gas Company successfully completed its second complex heavy-lifting operation. The project involved lifting and installing units for the gas utilization system on Platform No. 4 at the Bouri offshore field. The total weight of the units exceeded 5,200 tons, building on the company’s earlier success in installing the gas compressor system on the Sabratha offshore platform.

The new units are designed to fully utilize the two Bouri field platforms’ gas production capacity, estimated at 120 million cubic feet per day. The initiative also supports the NOC’s environmental goal of completely eliminating gas flaring and achieving zero flaring by 2030.

Technical teams immediately began connection and technical modification work right away, making use of the scheduled downtime of both platforms to complete maintenance and upgrade the control systems.

In this regard, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NOC, Engineer Masoud Suleman, praised this strategic achievement as an important step toward meeting the environmental and production goals of the oil sector. He emphasized the NOC’s full support for Mellitah Company and all its subsidiaries, including providing all the resources needed to develop its infrastructure and strengthen national capabilities in offshore fields to advance the objectives of the Libyan state.
