Production at an Abu Attifel Field Well Surges to 198%, Adding 798 Barrels Daily

The technical teams at Mellitah Oil & Gas Company reached an important operational milestone by completing maintenance on well A-24 in the Abu Attifel field. The work included replacing the completion equipment and re-perforating the producing formations, supporting the company’s ongoing efforts to improve well efficiency.

The maintenance work led to a substantial improvement in the well’s production performance. Oil output rose from 403 to 1,201 barrels per day. This is an increase of 798 barrels (about 198%). Gas production also increased, from 3.20 to 6.42 million standard cubic feet per day, up by nearly 101%.

Flow test results using the same 64/64 choke confirmed the well’s stable performance, delivering a production rate of 1,201 barrels per day and a water cut of 7%. Monitoring and evaluation will continue throughout the stabilization period to ensure optimal production levels are maintained.

This milestone highlights the strength of the company’s national workforce and the success of the engineering solutions put in place. It also supports the NOC’s strategic plan to boost production in line with Libya’s national economic priorities, and continues the company’s ongoing efforts to assess and develop wells. This will further help in ensuring a sustainable supply of energy and reinforcing the oil and gas sector’s role as a cornerstone of development in Libya.

The Board of Directors of the NOC extends its thanks and appreciation to the national workforce for their efforts in achieving increased production, which serves the public interest of the country.
